Jammu, Feb 22: Narsingh Seva Kendra, Village Khoon, at District Udhampur, organised free disease screening camp at the ancient Panjvaktra Mahadev Mandir (Rupaye Wala Mandir), drawing thousands from areas like Panjtirthi, Panjvaktra Road, Mohalla Darugiran, Partap Garh, Kanak Mandi, Raghunath Pura, Talab Khatikan, Residency Road, Jullaka Mohalla, Jain Bazar, Purani Mandi, Lakhdata Bazar, Mohalla Kaleeth and City Chowk areas.
According to a statement issued here, conceived by Raman Suri, Vice President of Narsingh Seva Kendra with active support of Dr. Rajesh Gupta renowned Physician Specialist and his medical team including Dr. Neeraj Mahajan (Cardiologist), Dr. Punita Gupta (Professor and HoD Medicine, Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences & Hospital), Dr. Shaily Kandhari (Ophthalmologist) and a Dietitian, about forty medical technicians rendered their services and screened people against diseases besides gave them consultancy at free disease screening camp.
Inaugurated by Dr. Vikrant Sharma (Seh Prant Sanghchalak Jammu Kashmir), amid Vedic chants, in presence of Surender Mohan Gupta (Jammu Prant Sanghchalak), Suresh Sharma (Retd. Judge from J&K Judiciary & Receiver Panjvaktra Mahadev Mandir, Jammu), Ajay Bharti (Raghunath Zila Sanghchalak), Vikram Gujral (President Narsingh Seva Kendra), and Raman Suri (Vice President Narsingh Seva Kendra), camp started at 8:30 in the morning and by 3 p.m when it concluded nearly 2400 people including men, women, seniors citizens and youth got comprehensive screenings done for Fibro-Scan, Spirometry, Neuropathy, Bone Mineral Density, Blood Pressure, ECG, Eye exams, Blood tests (Thyroid, PSA, HbA1c, Lipid Profile, Sugar, Uric Acid, Hemoglobin and Hepatitis-B) and also got consultations from doctors and dietician about lifestyle diseases.
Prominent amongst those who were also present on the occasion include Jagdish Langar (Member Narsingh Seva Kendra), and community leaders including Arun Gupta (President Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu), Anil Gupta (Sr. Vice President Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu), Satish Sethi, Neeraj Lucky Puri, Ashwani Sharma, Vinod Gupta, Karunesh Gupta, Sham Jandyal, Raj Kumar Gupta and Sunil Gupta and senior journalist Sunny Dua who also extended their support to the camp and facilitated smooth and hustle-free screening.
Dr. Vikrant Sharma praised the free access to costly tests. He lauded the efforts of Narsingh Seva Kendra and Dr Rajesh Gupta and his team of doctors besides Raman Suri for organising such a large-scale camp adding that such initiatives help people get screened for various ailments enabling them to take precautionary measures well in advance.
He added that these diagnostic tests are often expensive in private and even government hospitals, and organising them free of cost is a significant service to
society, especially for economically weaker sections. He extended his best wishes to Raman Suri and the entire team and expressed hope that more such camps would be organised in the near future.
Dr. Rajesh Gupta in his address, stated that many patients are unable to afford expensive medical tests and consultations, and therefore such camps are of immense importance.
