Jaipur: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan police has launched a probe into alleged large-scale irregularities in the Rajasthan Govt Health Scheme (RGHS) after an audit flagged discrepancies amounting to crores of rupees in Sikar district. An FIR was registered on Feb 19 against Dr Vijay & B Lal Diagnostic Center, Sikar, and government doctors Dr K K Agrawal, Dr Mukesh Verma, Dr Gajraj Singh, Dr Rakesh Chaudhary and Dr Sunil Dhaka of a government hospital in Sikar. The audit report, submitted by the Office of the Project Director, RGHS, alleged collusion between the diagnostic centre and govt doctors in raising inflated claims. “The action followed findings in the audit report, which examined RGHS claims and beneficiary statements. Investigators scrutinised portal records, prescriptions and MRI reports in multiple cases,” said an official on condition of anonymity. Sources said the audit flagged cases where claims were allegedly raised for multiple MRI scans, while beneficiaries stated they underwent fewer tests and did not consult one of the doctors named in the FIR. Additional diagnostic tests were allegedly billed without the beneficiaries’ knowledge, inflating costs. In another instance, claims were submitted for investigations during a period when the beneficiary was reportedly admitted to a different hospital. Discrepancies were also noted in doctors’ names and dates mentioned in MRI reports. “In some cases, the slip given to the beneficiary was not returned by the diagnostic centre, nor was any bill provided,” an official said. SOG officials said digital records and beneficiary statements are being analysed to fix criminal liability. Further investigation is underway.
