New Delhi: The condition of an 80-year-old retired sub-inspector remained critical on Friday after he was shot by two men in Mundka, Outer Delhi. Police are investigating whether the incident is linked to a dispute over 48 bighas of land.The victim has been identified as Rishal Singh, a resident of Bakkarwala, who retired as a sub-inspector in 2006.
Sources said the dispute was related to the division of land in Bakkarwala. Police are probing this angle along with other possibilities. “He was also found to be involved in two previous criminal cases,” officials added.A preliminary investigation revealed that Singh was present at his plot of land, where boundary construction work was underway, when the attack occurred. “As per initial inquiry, two motorcycle-borne assailants arrived and fired multiple rounds at him before fleeing the scene,” a police officer said.
