Agartala: Union home minister Amit Shah is scheduled to inaugurate the Joint Regional Rajbhasha Sammelan for the Northern and Eastern Regions at the International Indoor Exhibition Centre in Hapania, Agartala, on Friday.The secretary, department of official language in the MHA, Asuli Arya, said the Centre is committed to the development of all Indian languages and has no intention of imposing any single language on citizens.
Arya said individuals are free to use their mother tongue to raise grievances or communicate with govt departments. She said, “There is absolutely no question of language imposition.”She said Hindi is used as the primary official language in central govt offices, including PSUs and banks, and cited steps such as training institutes, expanded translation services and software tools to support Hindi promotion.Arya said the govt, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is working towards building India by 2047 with a focus on cultural heritage, inclusivity and indigenous traditions. She said both Modi and Shah communicate in simple Hindi and that Hindi usage is being promoted across ministries.She said the department of official language has introduced AI applications for translation, speech recognition and real-time processing, and that the “Bharatiya Bhasa Anubhag” has expanded these capabilities. She added that the home minister’s communications to states are now issued in Hindi.Arya said the department’s software platform “Bharti” supports translation in 15 languages and is planned to be expanded to all 22 official languages.The Rajbhasha Sammelan is expected to draw more than 3,000 participants, including Tripura chief minister Manik Saha, three MPs and other dignitaries from NE and eastern states.
