Thiruvananthapuram: A 44-year-old man reportedly died by suicide at Thungapara in Kattakada on Thursday morning. Police said the deceased Pramod was in financial distress allegedly falling victim to job scams.He was found hanging inside his house. According to police, he took the extreme step shortly after having tea with his wife. Family said Pramod had paid around Rs 10 lakh to a person who promised him to get a job in Canada and Rs 3 lakh to another person to secure employment in a cooperative bank. Despite waiting for nearly five years, he did not get the jobs or his money back. Pramod had taken loans, including through a chit fund, hoping to secure the job overseas. As repayment pressures mounted and recovery threats intensified, he reportedly faced severe mental stress. Pramod is survived by his wife, Anju and daughter Ananya, a Class VII student. Kattakada police conducted an inquest and shifted the body to medical college hospital for postmortem examination. Suicides are preventable and help is just a phone call away.
