Vadodara: Cave-ins and potholes have emerged as a major issue in the Akota–Mujmahuda area of Vadodara, prompting a Congress worker to announce a cash reward to draw attention to the poor condition of roads.Ward 12 Congress president Rakesh Thakor has offered Rs 1,000 to anyone who can find a stretch of road measuring between one and 1.5 km without potholes or patchwork in the ward, which includes parts of Akota, Mujmahuda, Atladara and adjoining areas. The roads in Akota and Mujmahuda have been in a poor condition for a long time, with potholes and cave-ins becoming more frequent after the floods in 2024, which caused extensive damage to the road network in the area.Thakor on Thursday said he had put up a banner on his SUV announcing the offer and asked residents to send him a video of an intact road stretch. “I have been moving around since morning with the banner, but no one has approached me with proof of a pothole-free road. I am sure there is no such road in the ward,” he said.He also alleged that the road opposite the Ward 12 office of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation was in poor condition. “Apart from potholes and cave-ins, roads across the ward have been repeatedly dug up by the civic body for various works,” Thakor said.
