Jaipur: A fresh wave of hoax bomb threats rattled the city for a second straight day Thursday, triggering evacuations and intensive searches at Rajasthan high court, Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS), and a private medical college. No suspicious objects were found at any of the locations, and police officers later declared the threats to be hoaxes. The threats came a day after a private engineering college in Jagatpura received an identical message, prompting authorities to clear buildings and deploy bomb disposal teams for sweeping operations.
DCP (south) Rajarshi Raj Varma said Jaipur Police was coordinating with central agencies and technology firms to trace the source of the messages. “The IP addresses of the senders are believed to have been masked by some kind of VPN server. We are doing all we can to track them down,” he said.Sources, however, indicated that the growing volume of similar hoax threats nationwide is beginning to strain response systems. “Earlier, IT companies would be quick to share whatever help they could with police agencies, but due to a flood of such requests from across the country, the companies also take time to respond,” an officer said. tnn
