Patna: Following a viral video of a constable alleging that his service gun was snatched and he was threatened, Gopalganj police on Thursday clarified the claims of the cop were baseless.Issuing an official statement, the authorities said the constable’s service gun was seized and deposited in the police lines’ armoury on Jan 30 as he showed signs of mental instability and aggression. He was sent on leave.However, he made a video and circulated it on social media later, police said.According to the police, “The constable Sunil Kumar, posted at Manjhagarh police station, showed signs of sudden irritability and mental instability in his behaviour for some time. Sensing the situation, the then SHO Rajeev Kumar made a formal entry in the station diary. Considering the possibility of an untoward incident, the govt pistol in his possession was safely deposited.”Sadar SDPO-II Rajesh Kumar said, “The constable appeared mentally unwell and was using an objectionable tone towards officers. However, no concrete evidence was found in the allegations made in the video.”
