Jaisalmer: A violent clash broke out between two groups Wednesday in Sadarau village, in Mohangarh police station area of Jaisalmer district, during a feast, with both sides allegedly attacking each other with stones and sticks. The clash left 18 people, including 5 women, injured, and five critically injured people were referred to the govt-run Jawahir Hospital in Jaisalmer, police said.
According to police, a feast was organised at the residence of Haji Khan in Mohangarh area. At the gathering, an argument broke out between Murid Khan and Haji Khan. It was reported that the dispute was triggered by Murid Khan’s family not being invited to the feast.Haji Khan allegedly called his associates, after which 15 to 20 people arrived in 5 vehicles and attacked Murid Khan’s house in Sadarau village. The attackers reportedly used sticks and stones. Women present in the house were also seriously injured in the assault. Mohangarh SHO Baburam Delu reached the spot with a team and brought the situation under control. Police detained 6 people from both sides, and said while efforts were underway to arrest others involved.The SHO said the clash occurred due to an old rivalry between the two families. He said police have been deployed in the village to prevent any escalation. Statements from both parties are being recorded, and legal proceedings are underway, he said.
