Hubballi-Dharwad: Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has submitted a comprehensive set of proposals to Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) ahead of the 2026-27 civic budget, seeking targeted investments for balanced and sustainable growth in the twin cities. In its memorandum, KCCI prioritised 24×7 drinking water supply across all wards, calling for adequate funding and strict monitoring to ensure uninterrupted service. It also proposed a ‘One Ward-One Park’ initiative, large-scale tree plantation and pond development for rainwater harvesting, along with reuse of treated wastewater for irrigation and other non-potable purposes. On sanitation and public health, the chamber urged scientific solid waste management, mandatory segregation at source, tech-enabled monitoring and modern processing facilities. It also recommended primary health check-up camps and medicine stores in every ward.To address mobility issues, KCCI proposed systematic parking facilities, expansion of EV charging infrastructure, and faster development of roads, drainage, water supply and street lighting in newly added extension areas. It called for rapid rejuvenation and beautification of neglected lakes and gardens. To decongest commercial hubs, the chamber suggested pedestrian walkways, organised vending zones for street traders, and early completion of the multi-level parking project near Channamma Circle. It also proposed converting spaces under flyovers into designated parking areas to support businesses hit by ongoing works. For long-term planning, KCCI sought special state grants to implement the masterplan and prepare an integrated urban development roadmap. Raising concerns over rising property tax, it urged a review of recent hikes, introduction of a self-assessment system, and simplification of khata and property certification with time-bound service delivery. It also stressed infrastructure upgrades in industrial zones.
