Mbbs student was killed and friend was critically injured in lucknow truck crashLucknow: A 23-year-old final-year MBBS student was killed and his friend was critically injured after their motorcycle was hit by a speeding container truck late on Sunday in the Sushant Golf City area here.
The deceased was identified as Dhruv Agrawal, a native of Bijnor district who was a final-year MBBS student at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences and lived in the institute’s hostel. The condition of his friend Hardik, a resident of Meerut and also an MBBS student, is stated to be critical but stable.According to police, the accident occurred around 1:30 am on the service lane in front of the police headquarters under the limits of Sushant Golf City. Dhruv and Hardik stepped out on a motorcycle to have tea when a speeding container allegedly rammed into their bike near the Dial-112 office.The impact caused the motorcycle to go out of control and collide head-on with an oncoming truck, police said.Passers-by alerted authorities, following which police reached the spot and rushed both injured students to Trauma-2 hospital. Doctors declared Dhruv dead on arrival, while Hardik was admitted with serious injuries. “Dhruv’s body was taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination. Efforts are under way to identify and take action against the driver of the container involved in the crash,” said SHO Sushant Golf City RR Upadhyay.
