Jaipur: Rajasthan chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma Monday inaugurated a two-day national summit on Institutional Leadership in Jaipur. The summit has been organised by the Department of College Education, University of Rajasthan, and Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan (VBUSS), the higher education wing of the RSS. Sessions at the summit focused on incorporating provisions of the National Education Policy into curricula, with emphasis on the Indian knowledge system.
Inaugurating the summit, the chief minister said innovation, technology and the Indian knowledge tradition should be promoted in the modern education system, adding that this would provide employment opportunities to the youth and build their character. “Our govt is committed to improving the quality of higher education and making the youth more employable. We need education that is a beautiful blend of tradition and modernity. The theme of this summit, ‘Dialogue on Inter-Institutional Development,’ is extremely relevant. Working together with IITs, central universities, state universities, research institutes, and private educational institutions can bring about real change on the ground,” said Sharma. The chief minister said the state govt continuously worked to strengthen digital infrastructure in higher education and promote research and innovation. He said that during the current govt’s tenure, 351 exams have been conducted and not a single paper was leaked. Addressing the summit, deputy chief minister Prem Chand Bairwa said the objective of the gathering was to accelerate the goal of a developed India 2047 through institutional collaboration, leadership development and policy formulation. “Students from across the world flocked to universities like Takshashila and Nalanda to pursue education. Gurukuls focused on the practical and holistic development of students. In this era of globalisation, the Indian knowledge tradition remains as relevant as ever,” said Bairwa. UOR’s vice-chancellor Alpana Kateja said, “In today’s rapidly evolving era of information and technology, universities must go beyond imparting knowledge to nurturing aware, sensitive, and responsible citizens capable of contributing meaningfully to society and the nation.”
