Coimbatore: A man from Thanjavur was robbed at knife point by an auto driver and a woman in the city on Monday morning.Police said S Anbarasan, 38, was visiting the city for a Mahashivaratri celebration on Sunday. On Monday morning he deboarded from a bus at the Gandhipuram bus stand and was waiting to go to the railway station.An autorickshaw that passed by, stopped and the driver offered to drop him at the railway station. However, a woman was already sitting inside the auto. When Anbarasan questioned the presence of the woman, the driver said she would get off on the way. “However, the driver did not head to the railway station. He instead stopped the auto in an isolated area on the way. The driver and the woman then threatened Anbarasan at knifepoint and robbed him of his mobile phone and 13,000 in cash, and fled,” said a police officer. Anbarasan walked to the Variety Hall Road police station and filed a complaint. Police have registered a case, and an investigation is on to trace the accused.
