Chandigarh: Industrial Area Phase-1 police have arrested an auto driver who had been absconding for 15 days in connection with the murder of his friend. The accused has been identified as Vishal Mishra, 26, a resident of Saini Vihar Phase-3, Baltana, Zirakpur.According to the police, a murder case was registered on Jan 29, 2026, based on a complaint filed by Prem Prakash Tiwari, a resident of Daria village. Tiwari stated that he and his younger brother, Arun Kumar Tiwari, 31, both worked as auto drivers at the Chandigarh railway station.The complainant said that on Jan 28, 2026, around 8pm, an altercation took place between Arun Kumar and Vishal at the railway station but was resolved. He also mentioned that the accused had previously issued threats.Later, both men reached a hotel in Daria village in separate autos with passengers. Another argument broke out on the hotel’s upper floor, during which Vishal allegedly picked up a knife from the kitchen and attacked Arun Kumar. The injured Arun was being taken to the hospital but died on the way.Police said continuous raids were conducted before the accused was arrested.
