Bokaro: Ahead of Maha Shivratri, the Inspector General (IG) of Police, Bokaro range, Sunil Bhaskar on Thursday reviewed security and law-and-order preparations with all Deputy Inspectors General (DIG’s) and Superintendents of Police (SP’s) of seven districts through a video conference, directing them to ensure foolproof arrangements during the festival.The IG instructed district police chiefs to deploy adequate force at Shiva temples and other religious places, particularly at identified sensitive and hypersensitive locations. Quick Response Teams (QRTs) equipped with riot-control gear, including stun grenades, tear gas shells and rubber bullets, have been asked to remain on standby.
“Officials were told to brief deployed personnel thoroughly and maintain close watch on areas with a history of communal incidents to prevent any recurrence. Preventive action under relevant legal provisions has been ordered against identified troublemakers, especially those previously involved in communal disturbances,” said the IG.Police will conduct route verification of Shiv Baraat processions and ensure deployment of magistrates and adequate force along the procession paths. Flag marches will be carried out in crowded and mixed-population areas, with drone and video surveillance to monitor activities.The technical and social media cells have been directed to keep strict vigil on online platforms to curb rumours. District control rooms have been put on alert, and special drives against drunk driving and illegal liquor trade will be launched, officials said.
