Haveri: The long-standing demand of the district’s people for a super-specialty hospital was not announced at the Bhu Samrpana Guarantee Convention, causing great disappointment to the public, said JD(S) district president Manjunath Goudashivannanavar.Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, he said the state govt organised a land guarantee meeting in Haveri on Saturday, where it claimed to distribute title deeds to 1.1 lakh people. People from 9 districts, including Haveri, were brought in, but only a few received the deeds, he said, adding that many were left disappointed. They were brought in buses with the promise of getting the deeds, only to be sent back empty-handed, he alleged. He questioned the misuse of private school buses for the event, as officials granted leave to private schools, disrupting education. With exams approaching, he criticised the unnecessary holidays and misuse of buses.Manjunath also accused the misuse of govt officials, including anganwadi and ASHA workers, women’s self-help groups, and other staff, for the event. He said there was no mention of farmers, no support price for maize, and no plans for the Bedti-Varada river linking project. He called it a ‘false promise event’.“A district-level meeting will be held on Feb 19 at 11am at a private hotel near the Ranebennur bus stand for those who have distanced themselves from the JD(S) party. They will participate to focus on party organisation,” he informed. To mark the 25th anniversary of the JD(S) party, a silver jubilee event will be held in the Kittur Karnataka region, scheduled for Feb 27 in Vijayapura. It is expected that 4,000 to 5,000 people from Haveri district will attend, with a total attendance of around 1.5 lakh people, he added.Functionaries RV Patil, Ningaraj Satyappanavar, Shivanandappa Karigar, Siddanna Gudimundinavar, Shivanand Yaligar, and MS Koppad were present.
