Kolkata: The BDM International Alumni Association, in collaboration with Rotary Club of Calcutta Endeavour, organised Walkathon 2026, to spread awareness on thalassaemia and cervical cancer recently. The walkathon had commenced from Ruby General Hospital at 7 am on Feb 1 and concluded at Hiland Park Mall the same day. Over 400 alumni, educators, healthcare professionals, students, parents, rotarians and citizens united by a shared commitment to preventive healthcare and social responsibility participated in the event.Madhumita Sengupta, principal of BDM International, had emphasized the vital role of educational institutions in shaping socially-conscious and responsible citizens in her address to the participants.
The event was graced by Ramendu Homchaudhuri, district governor, RID 3291, as the chief guest. In his address, he highlighted Rotary’s sustained commitment to community health, awareness, and preventive action. Medical perspectives were shared by Kamal K Dutta, CMD, Ruby General Hospital. SL Gupta, CEO of BDM International, also graced the occasion. The dignitaries were felicitated by Subhomoy Samanta, president, along with the core committee members of the BDM International Alumni Association, and Nabaneet Moita, president of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Endeavour. Comprehensive safety and medical arrangements were ensured throughout the route.
