Lucknow: In light of the massive increase in tourist footfall in the state, the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC) is constructing 11 Rahi Tourist Lodges while simultaneously renovating and upgrading existing ones.The Rahi lodges are being developed under the Public Private Partnership model and will be constructed in Mathura’s Gokulgaon, Agra’s Bateshwar, Kasganj’s Soron, Sitapur, near natural habitats at Patna Bird Sanctuary in Etah, Sandi Lake in Hardoi, and Narora in Bulandshahr, Pratapgarh’s Bhoopiyamau, Auraiya’s Devkali, Badaun’s Kachhla Ghat, and Shamli’s Kandhla.
The lodges are being developed to provide modern facilities to tourists, said a govt spokesperson, and will not just strengthen tourism infrastructure but will also play an important role in establishing UP as a national and international tourism destination.He said that with a high number of tourists coming to Prayagraj during events like Mahakumbh and Magh Mela, UPSTDC constructed a new building at Hotel Rahi Triveni Darshan on the banks of the Yamuna river, leading to a significant increase in accommodation capacity for tourists. Interior decoration was carried out at UPSTDC’s Hotel Rahi Ilavart in Prayagraj.Development and renovation of facilities is also being carried out at the Rahi Tourist Lodge located in Sarnath, Varanasi, while renovation was completed at the Rahi Tourist Lodge in Chitrakoot. Renovation work at the tourist lodge in Balrampur is in progress.
