Panaji: Nine homebuyers have lodged a complaint with Mapusa police against two real estate developers, alleging cheating and failure to hand over flats despite full payment nearly a decade ago. The complainants said they had booked flats in the ‘Sai Ishwari’ residential-cum-commercial project launched in 2015 at Karaswada, Bardez. The project comprised 17 flats, and agreements for sale were signed before the Mapusa sub-registrar. As per the agreements, the project was to be completed and possession handed over in 2019.The buyers alleged that despite repeated follow-ups through meetings and phone calls with the builders over construction delays, they were given false assurances.“We were cheated. It is causing us mental and financial trouble,” said Dattaray Dalvi, one of the buyers. “We request that strict action be taken against the builder.”The homebuyers also sought a probe into how VPK Urban Cooperative Credit Society sanctioned a loan to the builder by permitting the project to be mortgaged.According to the customers, the builders sought a 15-day period to complete the remaining building work and pay the outstanding bank loan to VPK Urban Cooperative Credit Society, submitting this commitment through a notarial affidavit.
