Mangaluru: Residents of B Kasaba village in Bantwal taluk held a protest by locking the doors of the Bantwal Town Municipality (TMC) office, demanding drinking water supply to their area. Following this, Bantwal Town police registered a case against the residents.According to Bantwal TMC chief officer Theerthaprasad KB, a group of about 50 people gathered in front of the municipality office on Friday around 10.30 am and locked the front door. The protesters complained that they did not receive water supply in B Kasaba village under the TMC. By locking the front door of the municipality, the protesters prevented the public and govt staff from entering the office.Based on the complaint from the chief officer, Bantwal Town police registered a case under Sections 126(2), 132, 189(2), 191(2), and 190 of the BNS.Shop gutted in BelthangadyA shop was destroyed by fire, with the blaze also causing damage to the commercial complex’s neighbouring outlets in Belthangady on Saturday. Officials of the fire and emergency services in Belthangady said the shop selling gift items was owned by Mohammed Shamil. According to Shamil, the fire was noticed when he opened the shop in the morning. The fire, which broke out in the first-floor shop, partially damaged a neighbouring mobile shop and another adjacent outlet.Upon receiving information, a fire tender rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Officials said the exact cause of the fire was not yet ascertained.
