Dumka: A resident of Gando village under the Muffasil police station of district was arrested on Friday on charges of murdering a woman and her six-year-old daughter on Feb 10, police said.The accused was identified as Jainul Haq alias Jainul Ansari, a daily wager.Dumka SP Pitambar Singh Kherwar said, “The deceased woman, with her child, had reached the town a few days ago after a dispute with her husband. Finding her alone and homeless, Ansari lured her to accompany him under the guise of helping her on the night of February 10. Then he attempted to rape the woman and punched her multiple times in the chest when she resisted, leading to her death. He next strangled her minor daughter to avoid identification and abandoned the bodies at a secluded place on Feb 11. The accused has confessed to the crime. He has been sent to judicial custody on Saturday.”An FIR was lodged with the local police station. A special investigation team was formed to probe the case. The woman’s bag, Aadhaar card, bank passbook, PAN card, clothes, mobile phone, and Rs 5,200, which the accused had taken from them after killing them and tearing her documents to conceal her identity, were seized, police added.
