Nagpur: The city police crime branch’s anti-narcotics cell seized over 0.5 kg mephedrone (MD) and arrested one Sanjay Gangwani for his alleged involvement in peddling the narcotics. This is one of the biggest drugs hauls under anti-narcotics operations in recent times in Nagpur, said police. The anti-narcotics cell team intercepted Gangwani near Agyaram Devi temple at Ganeshpeth with the party drug, valued at approximately Rs1 crore based on prevailing international and street market rates. Police said he was waiting for a receiver near the temple when the cops zeroed in on him.The consignment, smuggled from Indore in Madhya Pradesh in a bus, arrived through a Wardhaman Nagar-based travel and courier service, said police. Gangwani reportedly collected the package and was en route to a pre-decided spot when a team led by senior inspector Gajanan Gulhane intercepted him. He was handed over to Ganeshpeth police station for further investigation and legal proceedings. The action was taken under DCP Rahul Maknikar, addl CP Crime Vasanth Pardesi, Jt CP Navinchandra Reddy and CP Ravinder Singal.
