Nagpur: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis recently chaired a meeting to finalise the draft outlay of Gadchiroli district’s general annual plan for 2026-27. The district administration sought Rs668 crore in additional funds over and above the state’s prescribed financial ceiling during the meeting.The total annual plan ceiling fixed for the district stands at Rs370.97 crore. However, proposals received from various agencies amount to Rs1,039 crore. In the state-level review meeting, a demand for an additional Rs 668.03 crore was placed to bridge the gap between the ceiling and the proposed works.According to officials, the additional demand covers projects related to infrastructure, education, healthcare, irrigation, tribal development, industrial investment, and employment generation.Minister of state for finance and planning Ashish Jaiswal, minister of state for school education Pankaj Bhoyar, additional chief secretary to the chief minister Ashwini Bhide, principal secretary Shikhar Pardeshi, and additional chief secretary (finance) Om Prakash Gupta were present in the online meeting apart from Gadchiroli administration officials. From the Gadchiroli collectorate, district collector Avishyant Panda, chief executive officer of zilla parishad Suhas Gade, superintendent of police Nilotpal, district planning officer Prasad Ghadge, and heads of various departments participated in the meeting.During the meeting, Jaiswal urged that Gadchiroli should be assessed not merely on the basis of population but also in terms of its geographical spread while allocating funds. Jaiswal recommended that maximum possible funds be approved for the district.
