Panaji: With the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) elections around the corner, chief minister Pramod Sawant and revenue minister Atanasio Monserrate went on an inauguration spree on Friday. Govt inaugurated six projects worth approximately Rs 135 crore that were executed as part of the Smart Cities Mission.Sawant inaugurated a small fishing jetty at Ribandar that was built at a cost of Rs 2.9 crore. He also announced that work to widen and reconstruct two ferry ramps on the Divar-Sao Pedro route will be taken up.Speaking on the occasion, Sawant said that the RoRo ferry ramp will ease transportation for residents travelling between both riverbanks. “By Nov, the Ro-Ro ferries will be deployed. It is a long-pending demand of the Divar residents,” said Sawant.As part of the Smart City Mission, Panaji was equipped with a modernised water supply network integrated with advanced SCADA-based monitoring systems. The initiative enables 24×7 water management for the city.In collaboration with Reliance BP Mobility Limited, Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) set up 18 electric vehicle charging stations in Panaji and adjoining areas. Sawant said that five lakh EVs benefited from the EV charging network and thus reduced 32 tonnes of carbon emissions in the citySawant also unveiled the restored and refurbished IPSCDL headquarters located along Rua de Ourem Creek, and the development of the Patto creekside area into a recreational and pedestrian-friendly corridor.Monserrate, who is the Panaji MLA, is counting on the projects to sway voters in the coming polls in 30 wards of the state capital.
