Circle Inspector Hemraj Sharma of Dabi police station said the trailer was allegedly being driven at high speed when the driver lost control, resulting in the collision. The driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle, which was later seized by police. Efforts are on to trace and arrest the absconding driver. Following the incident, family members and villagers gathered at the spot and staged a protest by placing the bodies on the slip lane of the highway. The agitation disrupted traffic on NH-27 for over an hour, causing long queues of vehicles on both sides. Protesters alleged that frequent accidents occur on this stretch due to over-speeding and demanded immediate arrest of the driver and adequate compensation for the victims’ family. Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Tailor said officials assured the protesters of strict action and assistance as per norms, after which the blockade was lifted. The post-mortem was conducted Thursday morning and the bodies were handed over to the family. The injured man remains under treatment and is out of danger.
