Gurgaon: A naib tehsildar has come under scrutiny days after he was suspended following a hotel registry controversy. Narender, posted in Wazirabad, allegedly registered multiple conveyance deeds linked to Ansal Buildwell despite a ban imposed by the department of town and country planning (DTCP).Narender was recently suspended in connection with the Bristol Hotel registry controversy, where alleged irregularities in processing property documents triggered a departmental probe. Officials said Narender’s role is now being examined not only in the Bristol case but also in several earlier registries cleared at the tehsil level. The registries processed in Wazirabad tehsil have triggered concern within the revenue department and local administration. An exchange deed for around 450 sq yards of land earmarked for a dispensary site in Sushant Lok 3 was also registered. Authorities questioned how a site meant for public utility was exchanged without a layout plan revision or approval from the competent authority. The Badshapur SDM has summoned authorised representatives of Ansal Buildwell and sought documents and clarifications related to the transactions. “Notices have been issued to both parties and detailed replies have been sought. They have already been given two opportunities. If a satisfactory response is not received, a probe will be completed and a report will be sent to the Gurgaon deputy commissioner,” said Badshapur SDM Sanjeev Singla.Officials said the builder’s licence renewal with DTCP remains pending and substantial external development charges dues are also outstanding. Civic agencies and the power utility are also understood to have significant arrears.According to preliminary findings, over a dozen registries in Sushant Lok 2 and 3 were executed through manual procedures before the online registration system was rolled out. These registrations were allegedly carried out even though the DTCP had issued clear orders in 2022 restraining the builder’s first conveyance deeds. Investigators also flagged that conveyance deeds were executed for certain properties whose allotments were made as late as 2025, raising questions over compliance with planning norms and departmental directives.Amid allegations of possible collusion at the tehsil level, authorities have ordered a broader review of documents registered in Wazirabad and Badshahpur tehsils following official’s suspension. If irregularities are established, recommendations to file an FIR against those responsible, including builder representatives, may follow.Meanwhile, senior revenue officials have begun a parallel audit of legacy manual registries executed in the tehsil over the past few years to identify any pattern of similar approvals. Sources said the review will examine whether mandatory town and country planning clearances, layout approvals and dues verification were bypassed before documents were registered. The district administration is also mapping properties where conveyance deeds were executed during the restriction period to assess legal validity and potential impact on buyers. Legal opinion is being sought on whether such deeds can be annulled or kept in abeyance pending inquiry. The outcome of this audit is expected to shape further disciplinary and legal action in the case.
