ABOUT
Nizamabad is one of the seven municipal corporations that went to the polls in the Telangana Local Body Elections 2026. The municipal corporation consists of 60 wards and is spread across 98 sq km, with an estimated total population of 459403 people. Of the total 279224 registered voters, 135683 are male and 143541 are female. Nizamabad’s population comprises 8.29 percent Scheduled Caste and 1.84 percent Scheduled Tribe communities.
Apart from the seven Municipal Corporations, comprising a total of 414 wards, elections were also held in 116 municipalities, covering 2,582 wards.
POLL DATES
The gazette notification for the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation was issued on January 28, 2026 (Wednesday), the last date of scrutiny of nominations was January 31, 2026 (Saturday) and the last date of withdrawal of nominations was February 3, 2026 (Tuesday). This ward voted on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 and the counting of votes is happening on Friday, February 13, 2026.
PAST ELECTION RESULTS
The last Nizamabad Municipal Corporation (NMC) elections were held in 2020, in which Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party with 28 seats, while All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won 16 seats. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) secured 13 seats, and Indian National Congress (INC) won two. One Independent candidate also became a corporator in the municipal corporation.
