Hyderabad: To promote environmental awareness among voters, green polling stations were set up in Warangal, Sangareddy, and Rajanna Sircilla, and several other districts across the state. In Warangal, district officials have set up a special polling station promoting plastic recycling at the govt school in Bondabadi. Awareness messages highlighting the reduction of plastic waste and the importance of reuse were prominently displayed at these centres.“We set up green polling stations and special polling booths focusing on plastic recycling, solid waste management, and sanitation to increase voter turnout and create environmental awareness,” said Satya Sharada, collector, Warangal. She added that during the rural local body polls, the establishment of green polling stations significantly increased voter turnout, and the district received an award from the Election Commission for the initiative.In Wardhannapet, a green polling station was set up at the govt high school in the Firangigadda area. Similarly, in Narsampet town, a green polling station was arranged at the govt junior college opposite the RDO office. These polling centres were decorated with eco-friendly materials, greenery, and cleanliness-themed displays to attract voters.Voters who exercised their franchise at these polling stations were presented with pens and voter wristbands as a token of appreciation and encouragement. Likewise, in Sangareddy district, a green polling station was set up in Bhainsa. Collector Abhilasha Abhinav praised the initiative, stating that the arrangements were made in an environmentally friendly and appealing manner. In Rajanna Sircilla, a green polling station was set up at Gandhi Nagar.
