Aizawl: Mizoram has finalised an agreement to avail loan assistance of Rs 800 crore (USD 108 million) from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to strengthen healthcare in the state, the finance department said in a statement on Tuesday.
The fund will serve exclusively as a corpus for the Mizoram Universal Health Care Scheme. The loan assistance was agreed under the project “Supporting Public Health Care System Strengthening to Achieve Universal Health Care for Mizoram”, reports HC Vanlalruata. The agreement was signed on Jan 23 at ADB headquarters in Manila by Baldeo Purusartha, joint secretary, department of economic affairs, ministry of finance (on behalf of the Centre), Mio Oka, country director, India resident mission (on behalf of ADB), and Mizoram finance secretary Ramchuana via e-mode.
