Ferozepur: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal said here on Tuesday that his party was committed to wiping out the menace of drug trafficking and gangsters in Punjab if it formed the govt in 2027.Talking to newsmen after joining Punjab governor Gulab Chand Kataria in a walk held as part of the ‘nasha mukt’ (drug-free) campaign, the SAD chief said, “The governor understood the pulse of the people and travelled from village to village to create a movement against this menace.” He said drugs became a scourge in the state and affected the future of an entire generation. He also asserted that it was laudable that the governor took on the responsibility of leading this campaign in the face of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) govt’s failure to tackle it.
Sukhbir said a genuine effort could not be made to eradicate the menace of drugs during the last 9 years, because both the Congress and AAP played politics over the issue. “Captain Amarinder Singh took a false oath on the holy ‘Gutka Sahib’ to eradicate this menace in 4 weeks, while Arvind Kejriwal said he would take a few months.” he said.MSID:: 128160186 413 |
