Bhaisare and the victim planned to go to Madhya Pradesh for a pilgrimage together, and the duo, along with two other friends, discussed the trip before the fateful night. Bhaisare is a rag-picker, while Masram was a labourer and earned by doing menial work.The incident occurred between 11.30pm on Sunday and 12.20am on Monday. During the drinking party at Bhaisare’s residence, a dispute escalated for some unknown reason when Masram is learnt to have abused Bhaisare.In a fit of rage, the three accused allegedly colluded and assaulted Masram with a wooden stick, striking him repeatedly on the head. CCTV footage from the vicinity reportedly captured one of the accused, Bhaisare, holding a stick during the altercation, providing crucial evidence to investigators.Masram sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to Mayo Hospital where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.The victim’s brother, Chandrakant (50), a resident of Yadav Nagar, lodged a complaint at Pachpaoli police station. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under Section 103 (murder) read with Section 3(5) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (formerly IPC sections pertaining to murder with common intention).Police arrested all three accused, including Bhaisare (48), Kapil Ram Prasad Nagarare (43), and Jaswant Singh Narendra Singh Adi (75).“It was a senseless act fuelled by alcohol and a momentary dispute among people who shared a close bond,” a senior officer from Pachpaoli police station said. The three accused were remanded in police custody for three days. Sources stated that none of the accused had any criminal records.
