Pune: A man (33) died, while his wife and four-year-old daughter suffered injuries after a truck hit their motorcycle on the Pune-Nashik highway at Borhadewadi in Moshi on Sunday morning.The accident occurred when the family was going from Kuruli in Khed taluka to Ravet around 10am to attend a family function. The Bhosari MIDC police arrested the truck driver (26) on the charge of causing death by negligence.The police identified the deceased as Bhupendra Mahajan of Kuruli. Mahajan’s wife, Komal (26), suffered fractures to both her legs and their four-year-old daughter suffered bruises on the right side of her body.Sub-inspector N R Angaj of the Bhosari MIDC police said the victim, Mahajan, worked in a polymer company in Mahalunge MIDC. Mahajan, his wife and daughter left for Ravet for a family function around 9am on Sunday. “An eyewitness, who rushed the accident victims to a hospital, told us that he saw a truck dash Mahajan’s motorcycle in an attempt to overtake at Borhadewadi on the Pune-Nashik highway. Mahajan died on the spot after he was run over by the truck. His wife’s two legs came under the truck’s wheel and suffered fractures. Their daughter also suffered injuries,” Angaj said.The officer said the police registered a case against the truck driver. He has been detained.
