Mangaluru: Bajpe police have arrested two accused involved in a major theft at Kenjaru Jokatte and recovered gold ornaments, cash, and a scooter worth nearly Rs 27 lakh.On Sept 23 last year, when Mohammed Sharif went to Kalavaru to attend a relative’s mehendi ceremony at Kenjaru Jokatte, a theft occurred at his house in the night. Gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 23 lakh and cash amounting to Rs 1.3 lakh were stolen. A case was registered at Bajpe police station under sections 331(3), 331(4), and 305 of BNS.City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said on Saturday that, during the investigation, Bajpe police gathered information that the accused — Abdul Nasar alias Nasir alias Nachi, 31, a resident near Kalavaru, Bala Village, and presently residing in a rented house in Bajpe — committed the theft and fled abroad. Based on this information, a look-out circular (LOC) was issued.When Nasir was traced through the LOC and interrogated, he confessed that he, along with the complainant’s relative, Mayyaddi Imran of Kalavaru, committed the theft.From the possession of the accused, the police recovered gold ornaments weighing 222 grams, valued at approximately Rs 27 lakh, Rs 20,000 in cash, and a scooter worth around Rs 50,000. The accused were produced before the jurisdictional court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
