T’puram: A long-simmering neighbourhood dispute took a violent turn on Friday when a 43-year-old woman was grievously injured in a machete attack allegedly carried out by her uncle over a disagreement related to scooter parking at Kilimanoor.The incident occurred at 6am as the victim, Sindhu, was returning home after dropping her children for tuition classes. Police said the accused, Manikuttan (60), who is both her neighbour and uncle, objected to Sindhu parking scooter near his residence, leading to a heated verbal exchange. According to complaint filed by Sindhu, during the argument Manikuttan allegedly went inside his house and returned with a machete. He is accused of attempting to stab Sindhu during the confrontation. To defend herself, Sindhu raised her hands, sustaining deep cut injuries on both arms. Locals soon rushed to the scene and the victim managed to take shelter in a nearby house. She was soon taken to a private hospital.
Kilimanoor police have registered a case in connection with the attack and have launched a search for the accused, who reportedly fled after the incident. TNN
