Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Thursday asked officials of the tourism department, Patna district administration and Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) to make “complete arrangements” for the performance of ‘Ganga Aarti’ at Janardan Tourist Ghat, which forms part of the Digha Tourist Ghat on the western stretch of the river Ganga.With regard to the development of the Digha Tourist Ghat, the CM issued the directive during an inspection of the site, which is being developed as a major tourist destination due to heavy footfall. Officials accompanying him informed that Janardan Ghat was being developed as part of the overall tourism plan.
“Do plantation work around the Digha Tourist Ghat and convert the present ghat into a pucca (cemented) ghat. Also, make complete arrangements for the performance of the Ganga Aarti, as visitors come here in large numbers and they will love to partake of the joy from the Ganga Arti performance,” the CM told officials. He also inspected the site of the upcoming six-lane Ganga bridge being constructed parallel to the J P Setu.Senior officials accompanying the chief minister included his principal secretary Deepak Kumar, secretaries Kumar Ravi and Chandrashekhar Singh, tourism secretary Nilesh Ramchandra Deware, town commissioner Yashwant Meena, Patna district magistrate Thiyagarajan S M, the SSP and other officials.
