Prayagraj: Sleuths of the Special Task Force (Prayagraj unit) on Sunday claimed to have arrested a gangster identified as Tayyab, a resident of Azamgarh, who was wanted by Deoria police in connection with a Gangsters Act case. He was also carrying a Rs 50,000 cash reward on his head. The arrest of the gangster was made near Patnava Bridge while he was planning to escape.Police said that Tayyab was operating an organised gang involved in cattle smuggling and slaughtering. He was sent behind bars by Azamgarh police in connection with a criminal case last year and after being bailed out, he was giving sleepless nights to UP police. The hardened criminal took shelter in Mumbai for a few months and later came back to UP. Police said that as many as six criminal cases are pending against him in different districts of UP, including Deoria and Azamgarh.Meanwhile, Fatehpur police arrested a notorious drug peddler identified as Rajesh alias Rajju, a resident of Thariyaon, and seized 570 grams of illegal ganja from his possession.
