Ludhiana: For Parupkar Singh Ghuman, the SAD nominee for the Ludhiana West byelection, Friday was a ‘me day’. For a change, he wasn’t sweating it out on the ground, meeting people. He hit the gym in the morning, after taking some time out to meet and greet party workers, and spent the rest of the day with his family. Ghuman said, “I thanked the party workers for their support and untiring work in the run-up to the election. Thereafter, I hit the gym for a few hours, which I missed during campaigning. It was genuinely relaxing and comforting.”For Ghuman, it was just another normal day, but one he earned after months of being on the campaign trail. “I could finally follow my basic routine of going to the gym and having two meals with family. I also shared my experience of being on the field, meeting people, with them.” Ghuman further said, “It was an altogether another kind of experience for me, and I enjoyed every bit of it. From meeting people, talking about their issues, and knowing about their expectations from the leaders, I had a great time.” This was the first time that Ghuman, a well-known advocate in Ludhiana, got a chance to contest an election. Associated with SAD for years, he also headed the party’s legal cell at one point. He has served as the president of the district bar association in the past.
