Agartala: Tipra Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma, whose party is an ally of BJP in Tripura, on Wednesday called on governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu to look into lapses in his security arrangements.Debbarma accused superintendent of police (security) Amitabh Paul of bias, partiality and financial misconduct. In a letter to the governor, he said the random removal of his personal security officers (PSOs) has jeopardised his safety. He noted that for several days, he has been without security personnel, despite serving in a remote, vulnerable hilly area. The MLA said his security detail had been changed several times, with his latest PSO, Sukesh Debbarma, withdrawn on Oct 10 without prior consultation. He submitted a complaint on Oct 13 seeking an impartial investigation into the frequent changes. He alleged that the SP (security) office failed to adequately address his concerns. In protest, he surrendered his two remaining PSOs on Oct 23 and asked them to report to their respective offices. He has had no security cover since then, he said.Debbarma further alleged that the repeated changes in his security team were intended to put him under psychological pressure. He said neither he nor the security department had raised any complaint against the officers assigned to him, and questioned the reason for their repeated transfers and reassignments. The MLA also alleged discrimination in the posting and transfer of police personnel, claiming that some officers remained assigned to VIPs and VVIPs for years while others were denied similar opportunities.Referring to past incidents of political violence in Tripura, Debbarma cited the cases of former MLAs Parimal Saha, Madhusudan Saha and Gautam Datta, as well as former minister Bimal Sinha. He said these incidents had heightened his apprehensions about possible bias or negligence in his security arrangements.
