Actor Amanda Seyfried recalled turning down the 2014 film “Guardians of the Galaxy” and said she has no regrets about it.The actor was offered the role of the green-skinned alien assassin Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film.Seyfried, known for films such as “Jennifer’s Body”, “Mean Girls”, and “Les Miserables”, among many others, said the role in “Guardians of the Galaxy” wasn’t for her. “I think turning down ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ was just so obvious to me at the time,” she said in a Q&A session with SAG-AFTRA Foundation.“I’m like, ‘This is not going to be a hit. The tree and the raccoon are talking to each other. And also they’re all in space.’ And I was just like, ‘This will ruin my career if this is bad. And there’s a high chance that this could be bad,” she said. The role eventually went to Zoe Saldana. The actor admitted she was “wrong” but has no regrets about the choice. “I mean, obviously I was wrong. But I still don’t take back that decision. I made it for myself. I made it for my family that I knew I wanted to have,” she said.“And I just don’t want to spend all the time in the makeup trailer. I just can’t sit still anyway. I really don’t like stunts, and I don’t like heights, and I don’t like pretending the entire world. I need something to hold on to,” she added. The film went on to earn over USD 700 million at the global box office and has a sequel, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”, released in 2017 and another installment “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, which released in 2023.The plot revolves around a group of intergalactic outlaws who must team up to save the universe from a fanatical warlord.Seyfried will next feature in “Martha & Muhammad”, “Octet” and another installment to “Jennifer’s Body”, among others.
