NEW DELHI: The Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team took to the skies over Varanasi on Sunday as the holy city hosted ‘Wings over Ganges’, an aerial display at Namo Ghat marking the 94th Indian Air Force Day celebrations. In the video shared by IAF, red and white aircraft can be seen in skies over the river Ganga. The event is set to feature the IAF’s premier display teams, including the Sarang Helicopter Display Team, alongside a range of military aircraft, including the Tejas, Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) Prachand, Sukhoi-30MKI and Rafale.Aircraft from the Navy and the Army are also expected to participate, highlighting jointness among the three services.Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who represents Varanasi in the Lok Sabha, is scheduled to attend the display as the chief guest during his visit to the city on October 25.Indian Air Force chief AP Singh said the IAF was committed to jointness and integration, adding that future conflicts would be multi-domain and require the three services to operate more closely.“We are not viewing theaterisation as an exercise to permanently divide fighter assets geographically,” Singh told news agency PTI.On the proposed theaterisation of the armed forces, he said the key question was how to employ air power to its greatest effect within an integrated structure.“Future conflicts will be multi-domain by their very nature; three services will operate together far more closely than ever before,” the IAF chief said.During his Varanasi visit, PM Modi is also scheduled to inaugurate a new garment manufacturing facility at Arvind Mills.Preparations are under way across the city to welcome the Prime Minister, with members of Generation Z planning to shower rose petals at multiple points as part of a reception ahead of his visit to his parliamentary constituency.PM Modi is scheduled to travel to Arvind Mills by an Army helicopter after arriving in Varanasi. His roadshow will begin at Police Lines and pass through the Cultural Complex and Chowkaghat before reaching Namo Ghat, where he will attend the ‘Wings over Ganges’ aerial display.
