Nagpur: Revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Monday urged Shiv Sena to take action against its rebel candidate Shrikant Deshpande in the Amravati Division Teachers’ Constituency election, saying Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had already acted against its own rebels. The seat went to Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) under Mahayuti’s seat-sharing, and the party fielded sitting member of the legislative council (MLC) Kiran Sarnaik. Former MLC Deshpande is among the 26 candidates in the fray.Bawankule said, “BJP office-bearers have all stood behind the Mahayuti candidate. I too held three or four campaign meetings in Amravati.” On Mahayuti’s chances, he said, “We will win all five seats in Maharashtra. The election has now become completely one-sided. We will win Nagpur by more than 50,000 votes.”
