Margao: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Sunday accused BJP govt in Goa of turning the state into a “model of corruption” for other states to follow, saying it practised “high-tech corruption, land corruption, every type of corruption”.Addressing the gathering at the culmination of the party’s Goy Rakhonn Yatra, he said only Congress could dismantle it. Rahul accused state govt of having reduced governance to one task: snatching land from farmers and the poor and selling it to outsiders for crores.“Goa is a paradise, the best place in the country, with the best culture. But your government is snatching land from farmers and the poor and selling it to outsiders for crores of rupees,” he said. “They have only one job: making money out of Goa, looting people of their land and resources, and handing them over to their billionaire friends.”Rahul alleged the assets of the chief minister’s family were growing while Goa’s youth remained jobless. “The chief minister’s family is getting richer, but the youth of Goa have no jobs,” he said, adding that Goa had the highest unemployment in the country and that young Goans were leaving the state because they saw no future here.Widening his attack to the Centre, Rahul said the country was being run by Adani and Ambani. “Narendra Modi has handed over airports, power plants and defence projects to them,” he said. “This is their system: give land and contracts to billionaires, and in return they market Modi. It is the same in every state.”Rahul said the country’s world-class education system had once been its strength, but students in Delhi protesting against SIR and unemployment were now being met with pellet guns and lathis. “They have destroyed the education system,” he alleged, claiming RSS men had been planted in institutions. “If you belong to the RSS, you get any position and any contract. You need no other qualification. This country belongs neither to the RSS nor to the BJP. It belongs to its people. Goa is yours. It is not the private property of the chief minister or his ministers.”Referring to the ongoing vote chori agitation in Delhi, Rahul said: “We will take care of Modi, Amit Shah and Gyanesh Kumar in Delhi. Their expiry date is near, and they cannot escape. The youth of this country have risen against them.”The Congress MP said that the people had seen through the BJP leadership’s designs. “Desh ki atma Modi aur Shah ko samajh gayi hai. Ab baat khatm ho gayi.” “The soul of the country has understood Modi and Shah. The matter is now decided,” he said. “When the soul of the country decides something, it is only a matter of time.”
