Nagpur: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said those hoping for a regime change in India through street protests, as seen in Nepal and Bangladesh, would never succeed, asserting that Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution governs the country.“Stop fighting the Constitution of India. Such decisions will be taken in Parliament and in accordance with the Constitution, not on the streets. In a democracy, such decisions are made through elections,” he said in Nagpur.“In India, regime change happens only through the ballot. If you want a change, you will have to contest elections, win people’s hearts and secure a mandate,” Fadnavis added.Taking a dig at Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray over his regime change remark, Fadnavis said, “I am not sure which change he is talking about, because Uddhav ji did not even come to know about the regime change in his own party until after it had happened.”
