Ranchi: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has deployed teams at 18 designated ponds and water bodies across the city to supervise arrangements for Durga Puja idol immersion on Wednesday.Sites include Line Tank Talab, Bada Talab, Jagannathpur Talab, Jail Talab and Karam Toli Talab.According to a guideline issued by the office of assistant municipal commissioner Chandradeep Kumar, sanitation supervisors, sanitary and food inspectors, junior and assistant engineers, city managers and other officials have been assigned to monitor the immersion points. Zonal sanitation supervisors in all four zones will oversee coordination. The civic body has assigned department-wise responsibilities for lighting, sanitation, machinery and post-immersion clean-up. Officials have been directed to ensure adequate lighting and equipment at sites and remove idol remains within 24 hours to prevent water pollution.“The transport wing has been directed to arrange cranes at major locations, including Bada Talab, Button Talab, Dhurwa dam and Jagannathpur Talab. Four Hydra machines will also be provided, while an excavator will be made available to Bariatu police station,” the guideline said. The engineering wing will arrange dust at the designated sites, it added. In a parallel move to promote environmentally responsible celebrations, RMC has welcomed an initiative by Sri Ram Lalla Durga Puja Committee at Zila School ground. The committee is setting up an artificial immersion tank on the pandal premises. The initiative is expected to ease pressure on natural water bodies and promote eco-friendly rituals.Puja organisers said timely deployment of cranes and coordination at the designated sites would be crucial for hassle-free immersion on Wednesday. They said administrative arrangements should keep pace with processions arriving at the ponds from different localities.“We expect proper coordination between the administration and puja committees on immersion day so devotees can complete the rituals without commotion or unnecessary delays,” said Rajesh Kumar, an organiser from Dhurwa.
