Nagpur: Anticipating a massive rush of passengers arriving for Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din celebrations on Oct 20, Central Railway’s Nagpur Division has decided to temporarily suspend the sale of platform tickets at Nagpur and Ajni railway stations from Oct 18 to 22.The five-day restriction has been introduced to prevent overcrowding on platforms and ensure smooth movement of passengers during the celebrations, when lakhs of Buddhist devotees are expected to visit Deekshabhoomi from across the country. However, the railway administration has provided exemptions for people accompanying senior citizens, persons with disabilities, children and passengers requiring special assistance. Platform tickets will be issued to such attendants based on their requirements.Railway officials have been instructed to ensure that staff deployed at both stations are properly briefed about the restrictions and exemptions so that passengers requiring assistance do not face inconvenience. To create awareness, notices in Hindi and Marathi will be displayed at prominent locations, particularly near ticket booking counters. Information will also be circulated through passenger information boards and the division’s official social media platforms.Central Railway has appealed to passengers and citizens to cooperate with the administration and avoid unnecessary crowding at both stations during the five-day period.
