Times News NetworkKanpur: UP Legislative Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana on Friday directed various departments to work in close coordination for the holistic development of Kanpur city.Addressing a review meeting on overall development, he stressed that development projects should be implemented in a time-bound manner and issues related to civic amenities resolved on priority. In view of the Diwali festival, Mahana directed the municipal corporation to launch a special drive to improve the city’s lighting arrangements, asked the officials to ensure that all street lights are repaired before the festival and the repair work on roads damaged during the rains is completed to a high standard.While issuing instructions to ensure strict compliance with safety standards at the firecracker markets set up for the occasion of Diwali, he directed the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) to inspect the designated sites. He gave instructions to inspect fire safety arrangements in firecracker markets and ensure that adequate firefighting measures should be in place.During a review of the Kanpur Ring Road project, officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said that the construction of the Ring Road was being carried out in five packages. 64% of the work has been completed in Package-1, 50% in Package 2A, 21% in Package 2B, 37% in Package 3, and 42% in Package 4.The Assembly Speaker issued instructions to complete the remaining construction work within the stipulated time frame. Furthermore, he directed that roads, drains, sewer lines, and pipelines damaged during the Metro construction be repaired promptly and restored to their previous functional state.He issued instructions to ensure the prompt payment of compensation to families who would be affected or displaced by the construction of the proposed bridge from Dhobi Ghat–Rani Ghat to Trans Ganga City.………….
