Nagpur: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Dipke on Wednesday termed the arrest of his associates, Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka, an attempt to impose an undeclared Emergency in the country by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Dipke, who was at Nagpur’s Deekshabhoomi on the occasion of Dhammachakra Pravartan Din, challenged the PM to make his decision official rather than target protesters. “I want to tell Narendra Modi if you want to clamp Emergency, then have the guts to make it official. Why are you enforcing an unofficial Emergency by detaining people for five days just for waving the Tricolour at Jantar Mantar,” Dipke asked. His associates, Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka, were remanded in five-day judicial custody after being detained for allegedly unfurling the Tricolour at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Dipke later took a flight to New Delhi from Nagpur.Questioning allegations against his associates, Dipke claimed they had been held illegally and not allowed to meet their lawyers. He also criticised the govt for allegedly using police to suppress dissent. “What was their crime? Has waving the national flag become a sin under PM Narendra Modi’s rule?” he asked.Dipke also launched a scathing attack on Delhi Police, alleging the video released by them showing cops informing Dipke about his grandmother’s death was heavily edited. “Release the actual footage,” he said.Taking a swipe at the ideological influence of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Dipke said attempts to impose its ideology on the country would not succeed. “No matter how hard the BJP govt tries to impose RSS ideology on this country, it will not happen. This country will always be guided by the ideals of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar,” he said..
