Kolkata: A Calcutta High Court division bench has allowed New Sealdah Railway Athletic Club to organise its Durga Puja on the vacant portion of Railway Quarter Netaji Subhas Ground near Sealdah station. The decision allows both New Sealdah Railway Athletic Club and the established Sealdah Railway Athletic Club, which has been organising puja at the same venue since 1948, to hold their pujas on the ground. The division bench set aside a single-judge bench’s Oct 6 order and permitted the new organisers to use the vacant space of the ground. The other club has already started setting up its pandal on the rest of the space. According to the new organisers, they have been allotted around 25% of the ground space.“Our pandal was planned over 250 sq ft. But we have to shelve that plan,” said Jitendra Rajak, the puja’s organising secretary and vice-president of BJP’s Yuva Morcha in Beleghata Mandal 1.Members of Sealdah Railway Athletic Club refused to comment on the development.
