Shivamogga: BJP’s Karnataka unit chief BY Vijayendra Wednesday claimed the state could see a third chief minister within the next year amid internal friction and leadership confusion in Congress. He also alleged that secret sting operations were being conducted to keep ruling-party ministers and MLAs in check.Speaking after inaugurating the concluding ceremony of a marathon and walkathon organised by the BJP Mandal at the Hosanagara bus stand premises as part of the party’s Seva Sankalpa Abhiyana-2026, Vijayendra alleged that moves were afoot to make a scapegoat out of former chief minister Siddaramaiah, who played a principal role in bringing Congress to power. He said a sting operation team had been active for years and that such operations targeting the state’s political class were not new. He claimed ruling-party legislators would soon speak openly about the alleged tactics.Vijayendra said ruling-party MLAs lacked confidence in chief minister DK Shivakumar and were grappling with a lack of constituency grants and stalled development works.Later, speaking to reporters, Vijayendra alleged that internal friction had intensified and there were conspiracies within Congress to sideline Siddaramaiah. He questioned who the “producers and directors” behind the secret sting operations targeting Congress ministers and MLAs were. He claimed the operations had created widespread panic and even forced Siddaramaiah to approach the court for relief. He said senior leaders and Siddaramaiah himself should address these conspiracies.Clarifying his stance on toppling the govt, Vijayendra said he was not praying for the immediate collapse of the administration and hoped it would complete its tenure. However, he claimed that if elections were announced tomorrow, at least 20 to 25 disgruntled ruling-party MLAs were ready to cross over and join the BJP because they had completely lost faith in the Congress leadership.
