Srinagar, October 12: A delegation of the All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA), along with representatives of intern doctors from Jammu and Kashmir, met Health Minister Sakina Itoo today to discuss the pending release of the revised stipend order for MBBS and BDS interns.
During the meeting, the Health Minister reportedly informed the delegation that the matter had already been processed and forwarded to the Secretary concerned. She asked the representatives to wait for one week regarding the release of the order.
The meeting was attended by Dr Tasaduk, Joint Secretary, AIMSA; Dr Zamin, Academic Head, AIMSA; and Dr Danish, Additional Secretary, AIMSA, along with representatives of intern doctors.
Dr Mohammad Momin Khan, President of AIMSA, said that the association would continue to raise the concerns of medical students and doctors until their pending demands were addressed.
He further stated that AIMSA’s focus would now extend to the long-pending demand for a stipend hike for postgraduate doctors, including MD, MS, MDS and DNB residents.
“After the resolution of the intern stipend issue, it is time for the government to address the disparity in postgraduate doctors’ stipends. MD, MS, MDS and DNB residents deserve a fair and appropriate stipend. We urge the J&K Government to take the necessary steps to revise their stipends,” Dr Momin said.
